Researched & content by Merrick Burr

James Russell McIntosh known as "Russ" resided in Bobcaygeon with his wife Anne and three children. In the summer they operated a small lodge near their home at Gypsy Point. They also ran a boat rental business a little further north on Nogies Creek where it entered Pigeon Lake.

Russ was granted a US patent for his "Weedless McIntosh Spoon" on Nov. 17,1931. His spoon to was designed to navigate the heavy thick weeds of Pigeon Lake. Many of his patrons in the boat rental business purchased his unique weedless wonder. The lure was never placed into production runs.
